My Workshops at the Taylors Hill Neighbourhood House - Term 3, 2014

Please find details about my workshops for term 3 2014 at the Taylors Hill Neighborhood House below.

While I pre-plan all of my workshops to ensure we cover all of the relevant topics in an effective and engaging way, I tweak the programs to suit individual groups' skills and interests.

There is also lots of time for questions.

Please note that the Pro GamerS (PGS) computer gaming group now runs from 4pm to 6pm on Friday afternoons. To book you or your child's place for term 3 2014 (beginning 18 July), please call Melton Youth Services on 9747 5421.

Cheers,
Emanuel

Youth Homelessness Question and Answer Panel - Rotunda in the West: Conversations with Australian Personalities

Dear Socially-conscious friends,

I am producing an event to shed light on youth homelessness in Melbourne. We will be filming the event as part of our third series of conversations to be screened on a national TV station later this year, or early in 2015.

Please book early if you would like to share a table close to the stage with your friends and colleges.

Kind Regards,
Emanuel Cachia

Seeking a camera crew and film editor for national TV program

Rotunda in the West is looking for a film and editing crew to produce a one-hour video of a major fothcomming event during May to be screened on a national TV station. This is a great opportunity for experienced and emerging camera technicians and film editors to display their talent on a national stage.

We are looking for
- 3-4 HD cameras and opperators (who have preferably worked together) to film major rotunda event in the middle of May
- an editor or small team of editors to rough-cut the event into a 40-60 minute filmette that will later be divided into 2-4 episodes and hopefully screened on a national TV station
- a producer to oversee the filming and editing

The camera operators and producer will need to liase with our existing audio team and event organisers.

We are seeking volunteers at this stage, but, with a little luck, it might turn into a monthly paid gig.

We are hoping to fill the positions in the next fortnight and hold a meeting at the venue the following week.

For an idea of the quality and format we are hoping to achieve, please visit http://youtu.be/T2uA58LBZ-o.

Please apply via our Gumtree ad -> http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/melbourne-cbd/photography-video/film-and-editing-crew-great-for-students-beginners-/1043627452.

Feel free to share this post with anyone you feel might be interested.

Youth Magazine Publishing Opportunity

Do you know a 12-24 year old person living in Melton City Council who might be interested in being published in a magazine that represents the youth of our community and their thoughts, concerns, ideals and life goals?

If so, please invite them to submit their short stories, poetry, reviews, health and wellbeing articles, photos and artwork for publication in the leading youth publication within Melbourne's West, No Restrictions.

Melton City Council's Youth Services is funding the project and will be printing 2,000+ copies that will be available for free at key locations within our community. We will also be producing an electronic version and hope to place on the iStore and GooglePlay.

An eclectic, talented and enthusiastic group of young Melton City Council residents are making all of the decisions, designing the magazine and contacting printers, etc. My role within the group is to guide them through the writing, editing and magazine production processes, and make it fun!

We meet every week from 4:30pm until 6:30pm-7:00pm in the Taylors Hill Youth Centre internet lounge (121 Calder Park Drive, Taylors Hill). Melton's Youth Services also provides free transport from the Melton Youth Facility (193 Barries Road, Melton).

If you know someone who might want to join the editorial team, please contact Melton's Youth Services on 9747 5372 or send an email to julianz@melton.vic.gov.au.

A counselor from Djerriwarrh Health Services also attends our meetings and will provide advice on health and wellbeing articles – we already have a few on bullying, anxiety, physical disability and managing exam pressure. Keep them coming!

Thank you,
Emanuel

Blogging and Social Media Workshops - Term 1, 2014

My workshops at the Taylors Hill Neighborhood House will be continuing in term 1 of 2014.

The first is a seven-week course on creating and maintaining a blog. I will guide you through the process of registering your account; choosing what to write about; creating your blog; changing how it looks; writing and editing regular posts; attracting visitors and keeping them engaged so they become a stable readership; and tracking your site visits and popular posts to maximise your hits so your blog appears on the top of the major search engines.

This leads directly into a social media based workshop where I will give you an overview of the most popular social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+ and others, depending on participants' interests. I will then guide you through the process of creating accounts for the most relevant social media networks and generating an online presence.

For more information or to book your place in these workshops, please contact the Taylors Hill Neighborhood house on 9747 7200, or send an email taylorshillhouse@melton.vic.gov.au

Thanks for visiting and please feel free to give this information to anyone who might be interested in joining.

Cheers,
Emanuel
